 The Paints

These concentrated, paste paints have been prepared specifically for the suminagashi style of marbling, using pure pigments with a glue binder. They should be diluted approximately 1:1 with water. Available colors are: black, indigo, red. We use ox gall as a dispersant to facilitate spread of color, when needed, but Sumifactant, and other dispersants can be used as well. Colors can be mixed to create additional hues. These paints float well, often needing no additional dispersant, and they can be used with many western papers without the need to prepare the papers with alum.
